Searching Genus for Solidago

A genus of primarily North American natives with (usually) yellow flowers in summer and fall. Don't be afraid to grow goldenrods because you're worried about fall "hay fever". Although they were once thought to be the source of this allergy, we now know that goldenrods are insect-pollinated and that it is the tiny, insignificant, wind-pollinated flowers of the ragweed (Ambrosia spp.) that are the real culprits.

SOLIDAGO squarrosa New Fall to Late Fall3802
Stout Goldenrod90cm  Zone: 4
Stout goldenrod is native to Ontario and Quebec in Canada and a well-behaved goldenrod for dry, lightly shaded woodlands, and woods-edges. Large basal leaves give rise to a stiffly upright spike of yellow flowers.
