About a dozen perennial species from the Mediterranean, only one of which is generally grown. Lovely in a rockery or front of the border, it forms a tufted clump of narrow, greyish-green leaves and is topped with circular heads of flowers, somewhat resembling a scabiosa. Attractive and easily grown in full sun and soil that does not become too dry. Will tolerate less than ideal conditions.
