Searching Genus for Cardiocrinum

A small genus of Asian bulbs, formerly classified as Lilium.

CARDIOCRINUM cordatum var. glehnii (Moist Packed) New Late Summer748
100cm  Zone: 4
Hailing from Japan, where it grows in moist woodlands, this is a northerly, robust form of the species. The spectacular, large heart-shaped leaves emerge dramatically mottled copper-red, fading to medium green as the season progresses. Huge 15cm trumpets emerge in August, cream tinted green, with interior maroon dotting and a yellow base. Worth every effort to grow! Had no problem with -40C in our former Ontario gardens.
Germination Instructions: Seeds have been moist packed since harvest.

Native to central and western China, this is a very tall Cardiocrinum topped by enormous, fragrant white bells. Cool, rich, humusy soil in part shade.
Germination Instructions: Seed has been moist packed as an aid to germination.
20 seeds  $5.00
